Deuteronomy 18:18-19 is an Old Testament scripture of the Bible which the Moslems use in order to show that the Bible believers are
supposed to wait for another prophet:
I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him. And it shall come to pass,
[that] whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require [it] of him.
This does not point to Mohammed, because prophets must be, like Moses, from the Jewish Nation. Jesus was the new coming Jewish prophet, and Mohammed was an Arab. A Jewish understanding of a brother can be
found in Deuteronomy 17:15, “You shall surely set a king over you whom the Lord your God chooses, one from among your countrymen you shall set as king over yourselves; you may not put a foreigner over yourselves who is
not your countryman.” For an Arab, the understanding of a brother is a blood brother, which means from the same parents or from the same tribe. Mohammed was an Arab, and therefore he cannot be the “other comforter” as
previously mentioned.
Jesus delivered His people with many signs and wonders, just like Moses. Mohammed did not do a single miracle; the Koran in itself is not a miracle.
This new prophet
(Jesus) came as a Jew to redeem the world. Stephen witnessed in front of the Jews concerning Moses the prophet and Jesus, saying:
This Moses whom they (the Israelites) disowned, saying, ‘Who made you a ruler and a judge?’ is the one whom God sent to be both a ruler and a deliverer. This man led them out, performing wonders and
signs in the land of Egypt. This is Moses who said to the sons of Israel, ‘God shall raise up for you a prophet like me from your brethren’ (Acts 7:35-37).
When He (Jesus) came to our world to fulfill the prophecies, Zachariah the priest was filled with the Holy Spirit and prophesied, saying:
Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, for He has visited us and accomplished redemption for His people, and has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of David His servant--As He spoke by the
mouth of His holy prophets from of old, salvation from our enemies, and from the hand of all who hate us; to show mercy towered our fathers, and to remember His holy covenant, the oath which He swore to Abraham our
father, to grant us that we, being delivered from the hand of our enemies, might serve Him without fear, in holiness and righteousness before Him all our days” (Luke 1:68-75).
Also we see a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon. This man was righteous and devout, looking for the consolation of Israel. The Holy Spirit was upon him, and it had been revealed to him by the Holy
Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord’s Christ. And he came in the Spirit into the temple; and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to carry out for him the custom of the law, he took
the child into his arms, and blessed God and said:
Now the Lord thou dost let thy bondservant depart in peace, according to thy word; for my eyes have seen thy salvation, which thou hast prepared in the presence of all peoples, a light of revelation to
the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel” (Luke 2:25-32).
Jesus had fulfilled the prophecies of the Torah. All the Israelites had their eyes fixed on the coming of the Messiah to redeem them and to show mercy. Jesus came and destroyed the power of Satan who is
deceiving us and slaving us. Jesus came and set us free from the power of sin which separated us from God and grieved His Holy Spirit.
- Now the power of Satan has fallen.
- Now we can come to the presence of God, because the sin has no power over us.
- Now we can receive total forgiveness of our past sins since Jesus paid the full price of our punishment.
- Now we can have peace with God through Jesus Christ.
There is no need to wait for a new salvation, because the salvation of Jesus is perfect. There is no need to wait for a new prophet, for all the prophesies of old have been fulfilled in Jesus Christ. There
is no need to wait for a new book, because heaven and earth shall pass away but not one word of the Holy Bible can pass away. The Bible says in Number 23:19, “God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that
He should repent; has He said, and He will not do it? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?”
How then God is going to send a new prophet and a new book with a new law to tell us this kind of statement:
This day have I (God) perfected your religion for you (mankind) and completed My favor unto you, and have chosen for you as religion Islam (the submission). al-Maidah(5):3)
Why would God say such foolish talk after sending many prophets to prepare the coming of His dear Son who will complete the work of salvation, and cry at the cross “IT IS FINISHED.” What kind of a God is this who,
after 600 years, would send a prophet who would bring a totally different message?
Is God then the one who has chosen for us the Islamic religion or Satan? Even today, in all Islamic countries, open evangelism of the
gospel of Jesus Christ is forbidden. If it is true that Mohammed came as a comforter, guide and teacher who would remind us of the teaching of Christ, why then do we have to choose between the Bible and the Koran, Jesus
as Lord and Saviour or Mohammed as a false prophet?
